Alloy 904L

UNS N08904

Description

Find High Quality Solutions with Your Nickel Alloy 904L Distributor

When a project requires quality, corrosion-resistant stainless steel, turn to the 904L grade. This low carbon content steel was designed to resist the caustic qualities of dilute sulfuric acid. When your company requires a resilient metal, trust James Duva Inc. to supply the alloy 904L tubing and pipes you need.

Features

Fully austenitic, 904L is less reactive to sigma phases and precipitation ferrite than other conventional and high molybdenum austenitic grades. 904L combines relatively high contents of nickel molybdenum, chromium, and copper to provide more general corrosion resistance, especially in phosphoric and sulfuric conditions. As a result, this grade offers features such as:

  • A maximum service temperature of 450 ̊ C (824 ̊ F).
  • Resilience against stress corrosion cracking.
  • High resistance to crevice corrosion and pitting.
  • Easy to weld and high formability
  • More protection against intergranular corrosion.
  • Very good resistance to stress corrosion cracking.
  • A tensile strength (KSI) of 70
A yield strength (KSI) of 25

Applications

The durability of 904L makes it useful when producing and transporting highly caustic materials. This makes it useful for chemical intensive industries or erosion resistant material. Currently, 904L’s many applications include:

  • Chemical and pharmaceutical industries
  • Use in paper and allied industries for brackish water, seawater, condensers, heat exchangers, and pipe work.
  • Gas washing
  • Production and concentration of phosphoric acid
  • Production and transport of sulfuric acid
  • Metal pickling with sulfuric acid
